Dr. Melissa Munoz Kokenzie is a 1992 graduate of Life Chiropractic College in Marietta Georgia. She has been in practice for 30 years and opened her private practice, Bone Island Chiropractic in November 2010. Dr. Melissa cares for all ages, from newborns to seniors and every age in between, Dr. Melissa has an individualized approach to care, dependent upon each patients specific needs. Whether you are dealing with sports injuries, repetitive injuries, everyday activity injuries, or need more specialized care for your baby or during pregnancy, Dr. Melissa can help. She practices a number of different chiropractic techniques including hands on traditional adjusting (Diversified/Palmer), Drop Table (Thompson technique) adjustment and instrument adjustment (no cracking using the Activator or Arthrostim technology). In 2020 Dr. Melissa became a fellow of the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture (FIAMA) and is licensed by the National Board of Chiropractic examiners to practice acupuncture. She uses the acugraph 5, a state of the art piece of technology, to provide a more accurate diagnosis, leading to a more effective acupuncture treatment. Dr. Melissa is also trained in dry needling by the school of Integrative Dry Needling. Dr. Melissa considers herself a native conch as she was adopted at 2 months old by a 4th generation conch family. She is married to her husband Henry since 2000. Her step daughter Audrey manages the front office and her step son Henry is a proud graduate of the University of Florida and runs his own small business. In addition to spending time with her family she enjoys reading and furthering her education, walking, traveling, and most of all being at the beach. “Being in practice for 30 years, I often have patients that feel I have cured or healed them. Yes, my office was built on getting great results and having many satisfied patients, but the truth is I use chiropractic and acupuncture as the tools to achieve results. Through skilled hands, using modern technology and gentle techniques to remove interference in the nervous system, we can allow the patients body to do the healing from within. Without the use of medication. Correcting issues at their source instead of simply covering up symptoms! This helps the body function at its healthies level”.
